They're also something of a Lug identification item - rather like a secret handshake. At the last Leica day here in DC the tech from Leica NJ commented that everyone seemed to have one. All the people she pointed out to me were on the Lug & those who didn't have them, weren't. But we'll convert the rest in time. Simon Stevens
