Depth of Field is larger when the format shrinks, compared to any bigger format when all other factors are held constant. Conclusion. The DoF tables are all based on the convenient assumption that the permissible CoC on the negative will not exceed a diameter of 33 micron or 0.03mm. That is the basis of ALL DoF tables, from Agfa to Zeiss. It may be the case that the engraved values on the lens do not correspond to this, but then the engraving is a matter of precision or seen as a rough guide. There are no laws to specify the tolerance of the engraving on a lens." It continues. markrabiner
