Hi Nathan, Jem and Doug:

Thanks for your replies. I Used Jem's website to determine that the 50mm
Summicron R lens is indeed a single-cam type.  Since you mention
stop-down metering, can I assume that the SL uses TTL metering?

If so, then I could live with that as it sounds like my old Pentax
Spotmatic in actual use.

I think that I'll at least try out the lens with the Sunny 16 rule or
with my old Weston. 

I hope that I'm not starting a flame here... but would this Leica lens
be as good as a similar focal length Zeiss Planar or Nikkor?
