For years, I owned 21/3.4 black #13787145 - note the typical Schneider serial number. But this was a Leica-M mount lens. This serial number range was supposedly reserved by Schneider for miscellaneous lenses in 1978 or 1979. In the very late years (leading up to discontinuation in 1980 or so), Leitz was hurting so badly financially that it basically assigned this lens (and the R version) over to Schneider and essentially only branded and distributed them. Schneider got most of the revenue from them and, because Schneider considered it to be a Schneider lens at that point, put a Schneider serial number on it. Emanuel Lowi Montreal
