Subject: Re: [Leica] can m cameras be made more quiet?

The early M cameras had a different shutter curtain braking system. Why it
was changed I do not know but, as far as I understand, the later M3 and all
the M2 cameras and up have the current shutter curtain braking system.

The older cameras have also been seen a great deal more use so things have
settled in nicely. My M2 is not much quieter than my M6TTL but the noise is
of a different frequency which I find less intrusive. I will report back in
forty years on how the two compare then. :-)
