My IIIc has no normal screws on the the base plate but there is an odd
addition there that appears to be some sort of an attempt at a flash synch
mechanism. It is almost certainly an after market addition and as it
creates a hole through the plate, I am assuming that it is what is causing
the fogging. I taped it up this morning and have loaded some TCN in the
camera to try another test. (this time with the slow speeds as well.)
