Now that I think about it the earlier base plates did have screws,
just none on my two cameras!  The fogging is probably from the hole in
his baseplate whether its a screw hole a rivet hole or something else
entirely!!! ;-)

I've lost the original post but was the fogging just on the edge of
the film near the baseplate or on both edges?
