Subject: [Leica] RE: Complaint to Germany / Leica Chat

I have an update on anyone interested in my dilemma of the 3 rom lenses I
returned to Leica USA due to dust and contamination in the lenses.

I had sent a complaint to Horst Braun in Germany about this issue asking
that he intervene and get me new lenses. He replied that he had forwarded my
message on to Hans-Peter Cohn.

Well, this must have helped. I just got a call from Brenda Olesin with Leica
NJ, and she informed me that I will be getting all new hand picked lenses.
She said that she would have someone from the shop go through all their
inventory and pick out the best ones and then take them to the shop to check
them with their special equipment before they ship them out to me. I was
very pleased with this commitment.

Whether sending a complain to Germany helped or not I will never know for
sure. But it certainly didn't hurt.

By the way, I brought up this issue of Quality Control during the just
finished Leica chat. They must have been monitoring the messages before they
released them to the chat room. I got one message through and then a big
white window came up and said I was forbidden to enter chat room and cut me
off. The second message I sent in did not get released. Obviously they don't
want to publicly discuss quality control issues.
