Subject: Re: [Leica] Noctilux with built-in shade

Does anybody who has the Noctilux with built-in shade have any
experience with having a repair shop remove it? This' got to be one
of the all-time worst industrial designs ever. The shade, when
retracted, makes it almost impossible to remove the lens cap
without pinching it so hard that it flies into the glass. And between
the shade and the lens body all sorts of dust, lint, and debris of
varying kinds accumulates at an astonishing rate. Spraying
compressed air won't get it all out, and tweezers can't fit in there. A
nice reversible shade would make more sense.

But the lens, of course, is magnificent...

Thanks,

G.
