Subject: [Leica] "new" to me Leica Equipment

Recently I've inherited some Leica equipment which was used for many
years by my Father:

Camera body M3? (2 ea) nrs 870048 & 871279
Summaron f = 3.5 cm 1:3.5 nr 972280
Summicron f = 5 cm 1:2 nr 1376320
Elmar f = 9 cm 1:4 nr 1171077

The cameras and lenses look to be in good workable condition, however
I'd like to have them professionally serviced and cleaned. On one camera
the "Vulcanite" was substantially loose and missing - I've carefully
removed it entirely. Since the late '60s I've used a basic Nikon F w/
almost the same assortment of lenses so I pretty much understand the
mechanics. I have several Leica novice questions for the collected
wisdom of the List:

1) What advice and suggestions are there concerning service and repair?
I live in the Chicago area.
2) I read in the list archives that Leica sells replacement "Vulcanite"
(different pattern) die cut to fit - any comment & advice?
3) I've ordered a book from Amazon to help me know the vintage &
nomenclature of this equipment - any suggestions?

I already like the feel of these cameras and seem to have an affinity
for them I never felt w/ my old Nikon F.

tks & brgds, Jay
