Logan,

The rectangular hood for the pre-ASPH 35/2.0 is #12524, not #12504, which,
as you have correctly stated, is round.

The 12524 hood is made of plastic, whereas the 12504 hood is metal. The
12524 has been replaced by the 12526 hood (supplied with the 35/2.0 ASPH),
of similar design but has the extra 'tabs' on the side for fitting of a hood
cap. The 12504 hood is still available new. It was re-introduced in late
1999 with the introduction of the screw mount 35/2.0 ASPH.

I am afraid I have not used the 12585 with my 35/2.0 so I cannot say it this
will cause any vignetting.

HTH.

Bests,

Joseph
