Have any seekers of the ultimate "bokeh" bothered to test several lenses,
say a Canon FD 50mm 1.4, similar Nikkor, Summicron, and/or Summilux, in the
same light, same subject, same aperture, and compare the "bokeh"?

I can see how at smaller apertures, the six sided aperture blades of various
Japanese lenses would create different out of focus effects than a
Summicron. But the shallowest depth of field is at full aperture, and of
course the aperture blades are irrelevant at full aperture.

My gut tells me that it's all a bunch of hoo-hah, and that the bokeh
bretheren would rather not put this notion to the test. But my gut has been
wrong in the past.
