The dealer said this was a demo camera.  In fact, he indicated that it just sat
in a window or a display or something "in Germany," and certainly the camera
showed no sign of ever having been touched.  Is there any way to find out if it
was a repaired camera?  I would not have bought it if it were a repaired return.
It looks too clean to have ever been repaired, though.  No wear marks of any
kind, which would be unusual if the camera had ever actually been used.
