The only reason Charlie would have been exhausted after we wrote the ZEISS
COMPENDIUM was from dealing with my love of petty foibles.  He was a
darling to deal with -- once we got him focused, he cranked out his portion
posthaste, with no need for research or enquiry, as the man has a command
of the Contarex and Contax systems which is astonishing, where my
understanding of the Contaflex and folder lines only began with the writing
of the book.  

I had a grand deal with Charlie:  when he visited me, he bought cases of
beer.  When I visited him, I drank his likker and his most charming wife
cooked me magnificent meals of Belgian cuisine.  It was heaven, and I
really must cadge yet another invite to Schloss Barringer to ensure my
waistline remains appropriately rotund.

But I did cause him to meet Ollie North, but, then, that is a tale for a
different day ...
