It is my understanding that the vulcanite material was baked onto the
camera bodies as a part of the manufacturing process.  I think that the
big problem would be scrapping off all of the vulcanite, and getting a
smooth surface for the leather to adhere to. The vulcanite can be
patched, if it's not in terrible condition.  You might want to consider
the re-sale value of an M2 or M3, and what the alteration would do to
the value. Fargo makes a special tape to attach the covers, which would
be cleaner than using Pliobond.
