My most recent body was a "floor model," and it seems to be okay thus far,
although I tend to adopt your viewpoint, anyway.  You just never know where the
camera has been.  The dealer told me that this camera had never been outside a
window display (i.e., it wasn't a show demonstrator or anything), so I figured
it would be clean, and it seems to be.  Had it been an actual demonstrator,
though, I probably would have passed, as I know how badly people treat stuff
that they haven't paid for, as you observe.

I learned very young that when you share your toys, they come back to you
broken.  That's why I don't let anyone use my cameras, and that's why I don't
like to buy anything even slightly used.  People only take care of things when
they've paid money for them.
