Extrapolating from my experience with APX100 the rated film speed is
correct.  People will downrate the 100 because the negatives seem thin at
100 but there is detail right down to clear base.  People do the same with
Velvia because they can't believe the d-max of that film.

So shoot away at 400 unless the prints or scans don't give you the shadow
detail you want.
