Film is processed by humans or human run and designed machines. Things go
wrong occasional. If you are lucky and they are very good, it should be very
occasionally indeed. Generally as the price goes down, the problems go up.
If this is a good lab, go back to them and show them the results. Be really
nice about it and you will get some "good will" credited to your account for
when you need a special favour (film processed yesterday for instance). If
they are not a good lab but some faceless large one, then give the guy you
see in the mirror every morning a good kick and get him to go and find a
good lab.

PS: If this is Kodachrome, you pretty much have to budget that rolls will be
toasted every now and then. The machines are getting old and are not being
replaced when they should (years ago). Money shots should be duplicated on
different rolls.
