That and the Leafscan 45...I use both.  The 45 is 5080, and the 35 is 4000.

Film scanners to not require 4 sensors in a quad...they use three FULL width
sensors (or scan three with three passes, one for each color with a
different filter).  The issue you refer to is not an issue with film
scanners.

Really entirely different beast.  Cone really didn't increase the resolution
of the printer, but uses all four ink positions so he can get much tighter
spacing on the tones (since you can now use 4x as many inks in your dither
pattern), therefore it appears dotless.

Scanners are typically limited on one axis by the stepper motor
resolution...and they can only step in such a small increment...and on the
other axis by the width of the sensor combined with the magnification.
