Scanning a whole sheet of negs/slides at a time lets you archive the info, print a proof sheet for quick look up, and you scan prints if you are still wet. You also then have the ability to scan medium/large format film for enlarging up to 8X10 or so for proofing purposes. Alternatively, one of the best E-6 houses in town uses a light box to illuminate a cheap $100 flatbed for proofing purposes.
