I just checked my Metz MZ40 and it keeps the same aperture settings.  On my
Vivitar 283 with 100 speed film you would be limited to F2 unless you bought
the Manual adapter.  A 285 would let you do the trick.  The cheap Sunpacks
do change their aperture as the ASA changes.  I know that my Metz 45's let
me do the dance as advertised.
