Sorry, Rob, but I think you are way off base here.... Access to the
President is at the pleasure of the President. Both TIME & Newsweek have
been given limited access to George Jr. and his staff.
Besides, there is a Personal Photographer to the President, with a staff
of other photographers who document the world of the President, First Lady,
and Vice-President.
Everyone seems to think Jacques Lowe was the only photographer to have
intimate access to JFK. Well, there were many, off hand, there's George
Tames, of the NY Times, who made "The Loneliest Job in the World" picture,
Stan Tretick of UPI then LOOK, who shot John John crawling out from under
his father's desk in the Oval Office. Cecil Soughton (sp?) who more or less
who the official White House Photographer, even though he was officially in
the US Navy, then there was Ed Clark of LIFE, who among other photo shot the
wonderful photo of baby Caroline looking over the top of her bassinet at
JFK.
A valuable visual record of the President of the United States is being
made. We just aren't seeing it yet.
Lastly, I was told Jacques has a "large number" of prints in his home.
So most of the work or at least the best of it survive.
