Gerry, Nathan,

I also use Vuescan to scan K25 and K64. I have used it now with the HP
PhotoSmart, LS-2000, and LS-4000. I find it very difficult to obtain good
scans when using the Kodachrome/K14 setting (using all three scanners). The
main problem is that the highlights very easily gets blown out using the K14
setting. Therefore, I set Device/Media type to Image instead of Slide and
experiment with the other controls under the Color tab.

Another related problem is that it with Vuescan takes twice as long to
(infrared) clean Kodachromes than other slide films.

I have discussed these problems with Ed Hamrick and tested several trial
versions of the program for him. I believe Vuescan now is capable of scanning
Kodachromes very well, but you do have to experiment with the Color controls!
