I doubt if it makes much real difference

the biggie is that the rear element glass is clear some of them, for unknown
reasons, develop problems in the rear elements which is not economical to
repair, but it does turn them into nice paperweights.  it looks like fogging,
but the glass is etched and won't clean.  it's uncommon, but I've seen about a
half a dozen with the same peculiar problem.
