I'm talking directly postwar B. D., not 57 years later. An awful lot of
people
who ran everything from post offices, to major factories were cut a lot
of slack,
because the West needed to rebuild Germany, when it suddenly became the
frontline
with the USSR. They couldn't stick everyone in jail or lay them off,
because then 
there would have been no one left to run the country. So, the people who
kept the
lights on and generated the GNP got off easy. But I do agree with you in
the sense
that I find it silly when Leni tries to play completely innocent. That
is plain ridiculous.
