Thanks - there's a photograph by Robert Doisneau from the 1950s (Devant la
Joconde) that shows someone looking at the Mona Lisa without having the
picture in the frame. Except in his case there's a _rope_ barrier and the
viewer is smoking a cigarette (well this is France :-)

More compelling images Steve... I like your primary...I remember when there
was no railing in front of the Mona Lisa and no glass on it either.....in
the 60's......people were packed in there ...nose to nose with Mona Lisa
herself.

I really like your ... "time to leave"..a special lyric quality to the leg
of the statue and the woman walking..thanks Steve
