Feli,

The curling of negatives during the drying process is quite normal. It is
accentuated by heat drying where the emulsion and film base dry at different
rates.

Once dry, with time, the negatives will "relax". You can help this by
storing them between book pages, as you say, after placing them in glassine
sleeves. It is not necessary to press them heavily.

My 35 and MF negatives are stored in archival pages (polypropylene) in a
ring-binder. 4x5 in a box without the benefit of pressing them. Eventually
they flatten normally.
