Clearly any kind of camera gear gets beaten to death - and beyond! - when
subjected to the wear-and-tear of daily pro-work. The only real question
then, is do Leica M lenses - since lenses seem to be under discussion here -
hold up better and longer than other gear until they, too, give up the
ghost. I would suggest the answer is 'yes, they do.' Any thoughts on that,
Slobodan?

The first things to wear out were the helical systems. While I didn't
have problems with front coatings, I did have problems with internal
grunge build up. Living close to the beach for decades, going to the
desert, undeveloped sites, you name it, they do take their toll. Never
mind getting in and out of cars, taxis, trains, tight airplane seats,
buses, vans, helicopters, tugboats(jumping unto a barge and back, with
landings never being pretty). While the rest of the gear, 120, 4x5, etc.
are usually cased until needed, the leica was/is always swinging from
the shoulder, making it extremely susceptible to anything in it's way.
