Many people have bought the cheaper stuff and never had any problems.

You save between 2 and 3 cents per exposure.  For stuff that you don't know
what's happened to it.  Personally, I pay the extra 3 cents just for peace
of mind.  If I got a bum roll of gray market film, I'd be kicking myself for
a long time.  My peace of mind is worth 3 cents.
