Subject: RE: [Leica] International warranty

I was the one that called Leica USA and asked.... the response was that IF
the camera were sold internationally by a registered Leica dealer, and that
IF that dealer's name were on the warranty card and sales receipt, then the
international warranty would be accepted in the USA. BUT if there were ANY
differences.,, like the SALES receipt were not from a registered dealer, or
the camera, upon checking by Leica a USA with Leica Germany ( they said they
do check) , came from another, unregistered dealer, then Leica USA would
charge the customer for the damage. The user would be welcome to send the
camera to Germany for repair. And that Germany would have the last say in
any warranty claim, if he user so chose to write Germany for a ruling.

Basically, buy USA or Leica USA does not care. Not much better than
Nikon/Canon or those other companies

Any other folk have this discussion?
