N. America - actually that's wrong, Canada and the US - Mexico does this
better than the both of them - are among some of  the worst of Western
Nations for valuing and supporting their artists. The utilitarian view of
art that prevails here is one of the major factors in this.

Mexico, Spain, France, Holland, Italy, Ireland even the UK all do this far
better than us.

Unfortunately, a society which fails to value art lacks a soul - something
which is all too obvious if you look around.
