When you put it that way...  Yes, of course...you're right.  To an extent.

Jeffery never said that he prevented the official photographer from doing
his work, though.  I'm assuming that common courtesy means allowing the
designated official photographer to take his shots first.  Even without
light-happy triggers firing off slaves, it's rude to use your own flash at
the same time the official guy is firing away.  I didn't read anything in
Jeffery's post that would make me believe that he was interfering with the
official photographer.

I'm guessing this was at a reception rather than the church.  Most
unofficial candids happen there.  I see nothing wrong with guests taking
pictures of each other and the wedding party at the reception.  I do see
something unprofessional about somebody expecting that none of the guests
would use flash at the reception.
