Subject: [Leica] Press board question (OT)

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew how pressboard holds
together. I understand that stacks of wood chips are
pressed together with enormous pressure but does the
pressure itself cause the chips to bond together? I
can't imagine that to be the case, but then again I
can't find any evidence of any bonding agent among the
chips. Do they use a powder or something? Whatever it
is, the bond is enormously strong if you consider how
many books you can stack on a shelf made of 5/8"
board.
Javier
