I am not a lawyer but it seems to me that Yahoo or Topica would indeed have
such a right to restrict archive access, should they wish to do so. Legally
this should not be any different from calling directory assistance to
obtain a telephone number: the information itself is public but the DA
provider can still charge you for the service they perform by providing
access and searching the database for you.

When it comes to photos, wasn't there some discussion of the MSN terms and
conditions a while ago? This is one of the reasons I use a proper web
hosting service, with the added benefit of freedom from ads and other
unwanted screen adornments.
