This apparently brightens the focus area and helps focussing in low > light conditions.<<< Karina, At one time made for the Leica IIIf and other models of that vintage, an orange filter that fit over one of the small round range finder windows creating a different coloured image to overlay the non-filtered window for easier focusing. I have one on my mint III F and it's quite effective. I have no idea why I hadn't thought of making some kind of coloured filter for any of the M cameras I've used. I suppose it never was a consideration because they've all been easy to focus with their bright viewfinders.
