My suggestion:
Have a fun wedding--no formality, easy on the cliches. Remember, the
wedding is for you and your mate--NOT your in-laws, your business
associates, frat brothers, etc. Save the pomp for your 50th Anniversary
celebration.
Invite your friends--many of whom are likely photographers--to the event.
Let them shoot what they wish.
Provide free food and booze.

Result: you'll wind up with some dandy shots, none of which are the
double-exposure-of-bride and silhouette-in-the-gazebo junk.

Worked for me!

What they are paying for is the photographers STYLE. And if not then any
ole guy with a camera that can pose people should do just fine.

And photography is one SERVICE where the style and ability of the
photographer is what's sold. I wouldn't want a photojournalist to shoot a
wedding if I wanted posed shots no more than I'd have a "formal" wedding
specialist who sets up everything to shoot a loose candid wedding.

If I ever get married :O and look for a photographer I hope to hell they'd
say, "This is the way I shoot" and let me say yea or nay. Not Oh yeah, I can
do "whatever" you want mister...
