Having had an SC17 cord "break" on me - one of the shoe ends was smashed, I
would guess that what he is telling you is correct....But I wouldn't try
this stunt on the morning of an assignment...;-)

Yes, I'm serious. That is what the Nikon sales rep told me. I'm tempted to
buy another SC17 cord just to try it.
