I've posted a few pictures of a most cooperative Northern (or yellow
shafted) Flicker at:
http://pages.cthome.net/royzartarian/flicker.html

The bird, a male, was excavating what I hope is a nesting cavity in a tree
not far from the edge of a park road. It seemed undisturbed by my presence as
I set up the tripod alongside my car and photographed it. While the flicker,
ia member of the woodpecker family, is common, this one offered an
opportunity that I could not let pass.
