When it comes to using the old Leica screw mount bodies, it is hassle at least for me. I have tried to accomodate myself to using it with no success. Maybe once in a while (six months or so) it should be ok to enjoy them. It should be ok if and only if you don't mind switching back and forth between the rangefinder and viewfinder windows. The old II and III has the two windows far apart. Also if you are going to use any other lenses than 50mm, you need an external viewfinder. It is even more hassle. I have quite a few bungled up photos because of the parallax difference. Other than these, the screw mount bodies are all fine and enjoyable off and on. I haven't a clue about the history and heritage of these cameras, but would like to know if they're worth looking into. I would be shooting mainly landscapes etc on slide film, (thinking about some stock shots), and would probably use a tripod for most serious shots. I can probably live with the quirks and lack of automation. I'd appreciate some advice.
