Having Kodak scan is probably a good idea if you do
much scanning. I find that I may only print a few
images out of a role (If I am that lucky)so I've
rarely had them done. Also my shooting is sporadic. I
may shoot 20 roles in a week, then not shoot anything
for two months. In between I work on the images that
I've done.

I've also had to deal with dust, and bad water (heavy
copper content in our local water...we're on a well).
For water your only options are filters, or buying
distilled water. I probably need to get a better
filter myself.

For dust I have had good luck with Austin air
cleaners. One of the reasons I went for an entirely
new computer for my darkroom was that the family
computer is in the downstairs office with two
parrots...boy do those guys create dust! The only way
I could fend it off at all was with a big air cleaner
(I'm using one designed for half a house in a room
about 12x14 feet). Austin air cleaners are available
on line at a number of retailers. You can check them
out via google.com, just use the advanced search and
type in Austin Air Filters as an exact phrase.
