Hello Henry,
The Bessa R2 is a great little camera but not really comparable with 
the M7. The R2 doesn't have Aperture Preferred program - it's 
metering system is really more comparable to the M6. For AP comparos 
with the M7 you need to discuss the Hexar RF or the Minolta CLE - and 
of the latter two I think the Hexar (with AP lock and motor drive) is 
the latest and most advanced (ignoring the old back focus question, 
of course).
