It works at 1/250, 1/500, or 1/1000 with the flash in manual mode. You 
press one button, turn the thumbwheel until the display says HSS, set 
the aperture (camera and flash), partial output if you want it, and 
shoot. Simpler than it sounds, works when you need it and have some time 
to think about it (which for me ain't often).
