Hi,I travel there many times a month.
Allthough it can be quite hot most of the times it,s bone dry.
A good idea is to keep your equipment in plastic bags when in your room
otherwise when you go out you will still get condensation on anything even
at a low humidity.Once outside everything will heat up nicely in about 30
minutes.
I read that amateur film is better in the heat but i never had problems with
modern slide stuff like e100.
There is a lot of glare because of the dust so i tried using a no25 filter
there but without clouds the result was unappealing to me.
The best place to shop usually is the airport.
Abu Dhabi does not have much equipment on the airport.
Last time i was there only the digilux if i remember correctly.
People are overall very polite there and there is hardly any crime.
The local people are usually members of old and widely respected families
(also independently wealthy)and expect to be treated as such.
have fun , simon
