Hi Bill,
Sorry to tell you this but yes they can!!!! And enough packed in one film
cannister.. obviously without the film to blow a very damaging hole in an
airplane. If not a hole enough to bring the plane down period!

Ths packing film cannisters with explosive is an old trick and caused major
concern prior to the '92 Barcelona Summer Olympics. And if you think film
scanning is a problem in airports these days, hell you should've been in
Barcelona where if you went into any venue and including the Main Press
Centre, everything was scanned as many times as you entered any site.

If you went in the MPC and forgot something and had to return immediately as
you went out the door.... everything went through again! And you, your gear
bag, and film could go through scanners a half dozern times in one day....
every day . And at no time did anyone experience "scanner fogging!"

Didn't we on this list within the past three weeks go through this whole
hand baggage scanning business where many of us who've travelled for years
have never experienced film fogging? And those traveling, me included
several occasions during the past 10 months have not seen any effects from
hand luggage scans. And after 6-7 times on one trip.

At worse the film-fly thing is a big pain in the ass and there's any number
of ways around it:

Just live with it.
go early to the airport and live with it
buy film wherever you go and live with it.
buy film wherever you go and soup it on location and live with it
Stop whining, get on with the security thing and .....live!
Maybe!
