I stumbled across Mother Jones when I was in the US and I've since
subscribed to it.  It's not strictly a photojournalism magazine but the
standard of photgraphy is very high.

And the ones that are still here pay nothing - nada - zilch - zero.  If you 
are interested in documentary photography, you'd better concentrate on 
those photos that can also be sold as stock to textbook publishers - the 
only profitable market left for documentary-style photos.
