They made friends, and there's even a picture of her in the student life section of the Cypress High School Yearbook from 1947, "Our English Pal." She is quite a friendly woman, and she pitched right in and joined the community. Probably rural Natchitoches Parish was not too terribly unlike rural England at the time. Food excepted, of course.
