I thought some of you might get a Leica Friday morning chuckle ......

Visited an amateur camera club last evening and while showing the M7 with
Noctilux attached an old timer, hey I mean way older than me. ;-) says, "
Where's your lens shade?" I responded, "The pins fell out some time back and
I haven't had one since." "Ummmm!" he muses, then says......

"I had one of those lenses years ago, great lens. But did you know why they
had the vents in the shade? You know those slots?" A kind of twinkle in his
eye as he asked. I knowingly responded, " Sure for the viewfinder
clearance."

"Nope," says he, "they were cooling vents because it's such a fast lens!"
And began chuckling. :-) And right there I knew I'd been had. ;-)

And all these years we owners of Noctilux glass thought it was about seeing
through the shade. ;-) So now we really know what those slots are for on the
older version Noctilux lens shade ! :-) Cooling vents! :-)
So there you go eh. ;-)
