Your source has forgotten that the Titanium finished M6 cameras all had
brass top plates as did many of the Special Ed cameras -- such as the
platinum, gold, etc cameras. There are far too many Special Eds to list
but Stephen Gandy lists most of them:

I doubt that all the Special Ed cameras have brass tops just the ones
with difficult plating requirements.
