I can't say that photographer's make better verbal/written statements.
If they could, they wouldn't be making photographs. Some that can do
both are very rare, which holds true to any field of endeavour.
But I think that the bombastic from the commercial writer, does more
harm to the photographer than to the audience/readership. All too often,
talking to novice photographers, I had to address their sense of
intimidation they felt, when confronted by the braying of the commercial
chorus, because they themselves couldn't articulate as well verbally
what the content of their work is. 
Yeah, I have an in for the quasi academic, and the reams of their
writings that fill our cultural trough. It doesn't mean that there
aren't any good ones out there either.
