Okay, that doesn't sound too bad. But those Norwegians are pretty tough, so
I might not be up to the task. Is Akvavit a bit like Aqua Vitae?

Yes, Japanese food. Delish! Are you a sushi fan?

It tastes like re-constituted dried salt cod, served in a creamy,
onion flavored  sauce (Béchamel).  Nothing objectionable.

And the only thing getting "hammered" is the Norwegian who
drank too much akvavit, not the cod.

For me, I prefer Japanese food.
